Road project between Eastpoint and Carrabelle now complete

Driving between Eastpoint and Carrabelle should be quicker and safer now that the year long project to restore Highway 98 is complete. The Florida Department of Transportation accepted the completed project last Wednesday. The project began in August of 2008 and ran along Highway 98 between School Road in Eastpoint and the Carrabelle Beach Wayside Park. Phoenix Construction Services, Inc. of Lynn Haven was the prime contractor. The $34.7 M construction project included installation of bulkhead panels, sheet piling, articulating block, guardrails, asphalt and performance turf along the south side of Highway 98 to repair damage from Hurricane Dennis and protect the highway from future storms.
