17 weeks and no swimming advisories in Franklin County

Franklin County is now in its 17th week with no swimming advisories. The health department released its beach water quality results on Wednesday and said they found no bacteria in water samples taken from any of the 6 beaches tested in Franklin County this week. Every week the Health Department takes water from swimming areas in Franklin County including the St. George Island Public Beach and State park as well as from Carrabelle beach and from Alligator Point. They are looking for bacteria that could indicate a health hazard to humans. For over 4 months they have found no cause for concern from any of our local beaches. There were also no swimming advisories issued for Gulf or Wakulla Counties this week. If you would like to see weekly swimming advisory results for yourself, you can follow the link we’ve set up on the news page at oysterradio.com.
