PSC agrees to delay vote on Progress Energy rate hike

The Florida Public Service Commission agreed this week to delay a decision on revenue requirements and a rate increase request for Progress Energy Florida. The Commission decision is the result of a request by Governor Crist to delay action on the rate increase until next year when both of his new Commissioner appointments have joined the five-member panel. After listening to legal arguments by the parties and interveners, Commissioners determined the rate case decisions should be made after both new Commissioners have been sworn in. One new commissioner took office this week. Another will be sworn in after the first of the year. The new vote schedule for Progress Energy Florida is January 11th for revenue requirements and January 28 for rates. The Public Service Commission was originally scheduled to vote on November 19th.
