June 25 Update - Winds are forecast to be mainly from the E/ESE through Sunday, a wind direction that is helping to hold oil away from Franklin County's shoreline. We continue to stay outside any area of potential impact. Our shoreline is clean and our seafood plentiful and delicious.
The recent favorable wind conditions are giving contractors time to deploy protective boom in Apalachicola Bay and time to fine tune options for dealing with Bob Sikes' Cut. Franklin Commissioners are considering the temporary pass closure between St. George Island and Cape St. George if conditions warrant. A final decision on the matter is pending additional engineering review, water current evaluation, appropriate state and federal approval and overall cost feasibility.

The Florida Seafood Hotline, 1-800-357-4273, is updated daily at 2 pm and provides information on what state waters are open and other information about Florida's seafood.
