Franklin County unemployment rose for the second month in a row in July.
Franklin County’s unemployment rose from 7.9 percent in June to 8.4 percent last month.
432 Franklin County residents were looking for work last month– that’s up from 409 the month before.
Even with the higher unemployment rate, Franklin County still has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.
Only 5 Florida counties had an unemployment rate lower than ours.
49 of Florida’s 67 counties still have unemployment rates above 10 percent with the highest unemployment in the state in Hendry County at 19.7 percent.
Gulf County saw its unemployment rate drop from 10 percent to 9.6 percent with 647 people looking for work there.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rose from 8.2 percent to 8.6 percent – nearly 1400 people were looking for work there.
Unemployment in Liberty County also rose from 7 percent in June to 7.6 percent in July.
