Florida house votes to repeal septic tank inspection rule

The Florida House has voted to repeal a requirement for septic tank inspections that was passed last year.
The repeal bill was approved by a vote of 110-3 on Friday.
It now goes to the Senate for consideration.
The rule would require that all septic tank owners have their tanks pumped and inspected every five years whether the tanks have shown any problems or not.

It was designed to protect water quality around the state.

The law would have affected millions of homes in Florida including many in Franklin County.
State Rep. Marti Coley who sponsored the repeal bill said the requirement was intrusive and became a burden on lower-income homeowners.
