Franklin County unemployment drops in March

Unemployment in Franklin County fell for the second month in a row in March.

Unemployment fell to 8.1 percent last month down from 8.7 percent in February.

433 people were looking for work in March, that’s 19 fewer than the month before.

The statewide unemployment rate in February fell to 11.1 percent while 38 of Florida’s 67 counties had unemployment rates of 10 percent or and above.

Unemployment in Gulf County remained high last month at 10.7 percent, but that’s down 11.4 percent in February.

664 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month.

In Liberty County the unemployment rate remained fell from 7 percent to 6.8 percent with 272 people looking for work there.

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate fell from 8 percent to 7.79 percent with just over 1300 people looking for jobs in that county.
