Tallahassee picks up after major storm


City Responds to Storm Impacts - 4:20PM Update

City of Tallahassee crews are responding to impacts from severe storms impacting the area this afternoon. Primary impacts include major power outages, which include many traffic signals not operating.
Power Outages
Currently approximately 25,000 City customers are without power. Major outages are being reported in the central, western and northwestern areas of the city, including all service to Florida State University. Crews are responding to outages and extra crews are being called in.
City of Tallahassee Electric Utility customers may report outages by calling 891-4YOU (4968).
Traffic Signals Impacted
Due to power outages, more than 80 traffic signals are affected. Intersections with signals currently not operating include the following areas

  • Signals along W. Pensacola St.
  • Signals along W. Tennessee St.
  • Signals along Old Bainbridge Rd.
  • Additional signals may also be inoperable
Motorists should approach intersections where signals are out with extreme caution and treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
Roads Closed Due to Downed Trees

  • Blairstone Rd. near Capital Circle N.E.
  • Chapel Dr. and W. Call St.
  • Foxcroft Dr. near Giles Place
  • Other roads may be partially blocked by downed trees or limbs but should be passable.
City crews from the Electric Utility, Public Works, Police and Fire continue response efforts and will do so throughout the afternoon.
