Solar panels installed on courthouse annex

The solar panels are now installed on the courthouse annex in Apalachicola and should be powered up in the next week or so.

A company called “Independent Green” out of Tallahassee installed the panels on the building as part of a federal energy efficiency grant.

A total of 104 solar panels were placed on the annex, each panel will generate 240 watts of electricity for a total capacity of nearly 25 thousand watts.

Independent Green will get just over 96 thousand dollars for the work;

The energy efficiency grant is also paying for new windows at the courthouse in Apalachicola and for work at the Carrabelle Municipal Complex.
