You're invited to honor our D-Day veterans with the Camp Gordon Johnston WW 2 Museum

The Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum has been invited to participate in Leon County’s third annual Operation Thank You on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Leon County Courthouse in Tallahassee at 9a.m.

This year’s Operation Thank You will honor local World War II veterans and remember the 70 year anniversary of D-Day. It was seven decades ago when American, British and Canadian forces invaded the beaches of Normandy, France signaling the long-awaited liberation of Europe from German occupation.

The Museum will set up a display, which demonstrates the participation of forces that trained in Franklin County during WWII. Included will be uniforms, gear, maps and photos as well as information about the Museum located in the Carrabelle Municipal Complex.

The renowned Tallahassee Swing Band will perform during the event and play songs from the 30’s and 40’s to remember the era of large swing bands.
