A strong storm
Monday night brought strong straight line winds across the county and possibly
a tornado to Carrabelle and Lanark Village.
The Franklin County road
Department said they believe there were tornadoes in the eastern end of the
county, and Lanark Village was particularly hard hit.
There were no injuries reported,
but Public Works supervisor Howard Nabors said there was plenty of damage to
trees.
Road workers were able to clear the
roads quickly but said there is still plenty of debris is people’s yard that
they will be cleaning up for quite a while.
Power was also knocked out to
many areas of the county but was mostly restored by Tuesday afternoon.
Storm damage was also seen
farther east in Wakulla County.
Wakulla County Fire Rescue says
that at least two homes were damaged when the storm moved through that county
and several dozen large trees blocked roads for hours.
There was also storm damage
reported in Sopchoppy.
