Two FCI correctional officers acquitted of beating an inmate and violating his civil rights

Two correctional officers at the Franklin Correctional Institution who had been charged with beating an inmate and violating his civil rights were acquitted of the charges last week.
William J. Ray of Carrabelle and Corry B. Fletcher of Bristol were acquitted last week of charges that they physically assaulted an inmate at the Franklin Correctional Institution without justification and caused the inmate bodily injury.
The incident happened in July of 2014.
The case against the two men was brought by the FBI and FDLE and prosecuted by the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

After a four day trial in the US District Court of the Northern District of Florida, a jury found both men not guilty after less than four hours of deliberations.

Mr. Ray said he is relieved and looks forward to resuming his professional career.
