Alligator permits go on sale in May

Alligator hunting permits go on sale next month.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will sell about 6000 alligator harvest permits this year. All those seeking a harvest permit must be at least 18 years of age by Aug. 15. A permit allows the harvest of two alligators.

The permits will be issued through a random drawing – people can file their permit application beginning May the 5th. If there are any permits left after the drawing is complete, those will be issued on a first come first served basis.

You can apply for your alligator Hunting license at any county tax collector’s office, retail outlet that sells hunting and fishing licenses, or on-line by clicking HERE .

The cost for a resident alligator trapping license and hide-validation tags is $271.50, and non-residents pay $1,021.50.

The alligator hunting season will run 11 consecutive weeks from August 15th through November the 1st.
