Michigan man charged with DUI after Saturday night crash

Three people were treated for minor injuries after an SUV pulled out on front of a van in Eastpoint Saturday night.

The accident happened just after 8:30 Saturday night on Highway 98 in front of the Badcock Store. According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened after Robert Haney of Lake Odessa Michigan drove into the path of a Ford Van while turning into the parking lot of the Badcock Furniture Store. 71 year old James Register of Apalachicola was driving the van – he tried to avoid the SUV but was unable to. He hit the front of the SUV before driving into a ditch on the north side of the highway.

Mister register and his wife received minor injuries and were treated by local ambulance workers.

Mister Haney is facing a number of charges for his role of the accident. The highway patrol said Mister Haney was drinking and this is his second DUI. He was also charged for driving with an open container.
