St. George Island will get a few new stop signs very soon.
County commissioner Pinki Jackel has asked that stop signs be placed at the intersections of Pine Street and 6th streets East and West. Commissioner Jackel said the signs are needed for safety reasons.
She said mixed use vehicles enter the road at those locations and it would be best for drivers to stop before crossing the intersections.
The road department will install the new stop signs in the next few weeks.
