Unemployment in Franklin County declined for the third month in a row in April.
Franklin County’s unemployment fell from 10 percent in March to 8.4 percent last month. 428 Franklin County residents were looking for work – that’s down from 492 the month before.
The unemployment rate across the state dropped from 12 percent in March to 11.2 percent in April. 45 of Florida’s 67 counties had unemployment rates above 10 percent with the highest unemployment in the state in Flagler County at 15.4 percent.
Gulf County saw its unemployment rate decline from 11.7 percent to 10.3 percent. 670 people were jobless there in April.
Wakulla County’s unemployment fell from 9.1 percent to 8.4 percent – there are 1381 people looking for work there.
Liberty County continued to have the lowest unemployment rate in Florida at 6.7 percent.
