Today,
more than 25 million Americans are living with diabetes and 79 million more are
at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The Florida Department of Health in
Franklin and Gulf counties is proud to participate in American Diabetes Month
to promote diabetes prevention and control.
You

weight.... with these positive steps, you can stay healthier longer and reduce
your risk of diabetes. Below are a list of risk factors that contribute to
developing diabetes:

Exercise
less than 3 times a week

Have
high blood pressure or high cholesterol

Are
over 45 years old

Are
African American, Latino, American Indian, Alaska Native, Asian American or
Pacific Islander

Have
a parent, brother, or sister with diabetes
