Animal Cruelty Case Finally Resolved.

Gracie and Serena are two beautiful Husky mixes that have been at the Adoption Center since early Oct. 2009.  After being confiscated by Franklin County Animal Control due to Animal Cruelty they were transferred to the Humane Society where they were treated and housed.

Both dogs were in very poor physical condition.  They suffered from mange, intestinal parasites were emaciated and Gracie tested positive for heartworms.  They were vaccinated, treated for mange, and for their intestinal parasites.  They were fed twice a day to gain weight and strength and socialized to become adoptable once the case came to a close.

As so often happens, this case became bogged down in the legal system and the dogs have only recently become wards of the county and available for adoption.

Serena is heartworm negative so she will be spayed and available for adoption this week however, Gracie will have to be treated for heartworms before she can be spayed and adopted out.

The Humane Society is asking for donations to treat Gracie for heartworms.  If you can help, please mail your donation to P.O. Box 417, Eastpoint, FL  32328.

The Humane Society invites anyone interested to come to the Adoption Center to meet these beautiful and brave girls.

AND THE WINNER IS.....

Chef Eddie and his magnificent dog Misty won the fashion show at the Dog Days of Summer Event sponsored by the Coombs Inn.  Misty was dressed in pink ribbons and bows and although she immediatly got her costumn dirty by rolling on the ground playing with the other dogs, she was most definitely the fanciest pup there.

Chef Eddie adopted Misty from the Adoption Center about a month ago so we were all glad to see her and see how beautifully she has adapted to her new family and how obviously spoiled she is.

We sincerely thank Bill Spohrer, Lynn Wilson and all the staff at the Coombs Inn for hosting this fun event for the benefit of our homeless pets.  We look forward to seeing all of you there next year!

HAPPY BEGINNINGS

Zoie and Phoebe her litter mate are labradoodles that were owner surrendered to us at 5 months of age.  These adorable girls had been raised outside under a house and had very little human contact.

They were filthy, covered in fleas and terrified.  They were de-wormed, de-flead and vaccinated and only after they were bathed could we see how beautiful their coats were and how pretty their faces.

They were found on Petfinder by a woman in Lake Worth Florida.  She was interested in one of them in particular but after listening to their story she decided she just couldn't separate them so she adopted both of them.

She placed a deposit on them and as soon as they were spayed and ready she sent her daughter and grandaughter to pick them up.  They left at 3 a.m. arrived around noon, picked up the girls and drove them straight home.

We received an ecstatic phone call the next day from the new family.  They couldn't have been happier and Zoie and Phoebe were acclimating beautifully to their new home.

Above is a recent photo of Phoebe in the lap of love and luxury!

Meet Angel!

Angel is just that, an angel.  She is a 5-6 yr old Pomeranian and we have no idea how this sweet, beautiful girl ended up alone on the streets of Eastpoint.

She is loving and gentle and was obviously someones lap dog yet no one has claimed her.  How we wish they could talk!

She will be spayed and available for adoption next week.  If you would like to meet her you are welcome to come to the Adoption Center to see her and all our other wonderful pets.
