FRANKLIN COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY PET OF THE WEEK

The second wave of kitten season is in full swing here at the Humane Society. We have dozens of beautiful, sweet and social kittens waiting to be adopted. Here is an example of the extreme cuteness we are dealing with every day. Come meet our irresistible babies and adopt one kitten for $75.00 and we will waive the adoption fee for the second one!

We are always looking for people willing to bring one of our animals into their home to be fostered for various needs.

Any time you can spare would be greatly appreciated.

Call Karen at 670-8417 for more details or visit the Franklin County Humane Society at 244 State Road 65 in Eastpoint. You may logon to the website at www.forgottenpets.org to see more of our adoptable pets.

The Duke Energy Foundation recently awarded $425,000 in Florida to fund environmental programs, provide access to science education and help create biodiversity across the state

The Duke Energy Foundation recently awarded $425,000 in Florida to fund environmental programs, provide access to science education and help create biodiversity across the state.

The Franklin's Promise Coalition OysterCorps program was one of the beneficiaries.

The program trains young adults for careers in environmental conservation and restoration, as well as disaster response, while completing their education, earning industry certifications and building life and career skills.

The OysterCorps program was granted $34,000 to support crew member certifications, training and field work experiences while strengthening coastal resilience, oyster habitat restoration, and economic diversification through aquaculture.

The program provides habitat restoration projects such as living shoreline installation, coastal marsh plantings, prescribed fire preparations and project monitoring.

Members also receive diversity, equity and inclusion training to support the most productive work environment and career pathways for members, with an emphasis on removing employment barriers for people of color.

Duke Energy Florida has supported the Conservation Corps of the Forgotten and Emerald Coasts since the program was founded in 2015.

Eastpoint will get a new sidewalk in a highly traveled area of town but it will be a while before the project is complete

Eastpoint will get a new sidewalk in a highly traveled area of town but it will be a while before the project is complete.

District 5 county commissioner Jessica Ward announced on Facebook that the Sidewalk she requested has been approved.

The sidewalk will reach from Ridge Road to Vrooman Park.

Commissioner Varnes requested the sidewalk project because it is heavily traveled and a lot of children walk along that roadway to go to Vrooman Park to play and take part in sports practice.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
