Commission chairman now certified
Franklin County commission chairman Smokey Parrish is now a certified commissioner. Parrish recently completed the coursework for the certification which is provided through the Florida Association of Counties. To receive the designation a county commissioner needs 36 hours of courses in the many facets of county government. The additional training helps commissioners better understand county government as well as better understand and implement their duties and responsibilities as county commissioners. Franklin County also has two commissioners who have received the designation of advanced certified county commissioners from the Florida Association of Counties. Commissioners Noah Lockley and Cheryl Sanders completed an additional 27 hours of leadership training to achieve the advanced designation in 2007.
