County says driving on fishing pier in illegal
County commissioners say they have received reports that people are driving their vehicles on the Eastpoint fishing pier. The board is concerned about public safety, and the fact that someone had to remove the barricade from the pier in order to get a vehicle on there. The pier is about a third of a mile long so there is a pretty long haul to get to the end especially if you are hauling fishing gear and a cooler, but commissioners say that is no reason to vandalize public property and drive on the pier. They asked that the road department repair the barricade if necessary and that the sheriff’s office keep a close watch on the structure to make sure no other cars get on there.
