Franklin County commission recognizes Dixie Belle softball team

Franklin County commissioners recognized a local girls’ softball team on Tuesday for making it to the state tournament this year. The Dixie Belle All-Stars, made up of local 13 through 15 year olds, won the district championship this year and traveled to Brooksville for the state tournament. It was the second year in a row the girls made it to state. On Tuesday 11 girls and three coaches received plaques from the county commission for all of their hard work and dedication. The girls, in turn, gave the county one of their trophies to display in the courthouse annex. Commissioners congratulated each of the girls and told them to keep bringing back the trophies. Commissioner Bevin Putnal said the team was probably the prettiest group that ever came to a county commission meeting.
