The Camp Gordon Johnston Museum says it has seen a big increase in visitors this year.
The museum said that between January 1st and March 25th of 2010, over 1100 visitors have signed the register at the Franklin County Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum. This almost doubles the attendance for the same period last year.
On Saturday, March 13th, during Camp Gordon Johnston Days, the museum had 300 visitors which was a one-day record.
The museum says a ‘spike’ in Franklin County Tourism along with the museum’s growing national reputation is the main reason for the growth in attendance. The museum says it will work to maintain the increase through the rest of the year.
The Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum is located at the Carrabelle City Complex, which used to be Carrabelle High School. The museum is open Monday through Thursday from 1 till 4, Friday from noon until 4 hours and Saturday from 10 till 2.
