If you are considering investing in new appliances, you might be able to save some money if you wait until this weekend.
From April the 16th through the 25th the state of Florida will hold a mail-in rebate program to help Florida residents replace older, inefficient appliances with newer energy efficient models. The state will offer a 20 percent rebate off the retail price of certain qualified ENERGY STAR appliances including gas tank-less water heaters, clothes washers, refrigerators, dishwashers, room air conditioners and freezers.
People might even be able get an additional rebate of up to 75 dollars by recycling their older appliances.
The state has about 17 and a half million dollars to fund the program, but you need to act fast. The money will be distributed on a first come first served basis, and its estimated the entire fund could be used up during the first day of the program.
