BP opens Crawfordville claims office

British Petroleum (BP) has opened a Crawfordville claims office in the event that residents need to file claims with the oil company following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill earlier this year.

The office is located at 3010 Crawfordville Highway in the heart of downtown Crawfordville. The office space once housed the Ace Hardware store and the U.S. Forest Service used the structure for office space before moving to larger space.

The claims office officially opened Thursday, May 20 and will remain open indefinitely. The staff maintains a seven day work week and is open each day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to handle residential or commercial claims

A spokesman for BP said the office will remain open as long as is necessary. The local claims offices have been established approximately every other county to provide a short driving distance for individuals needing to file claims.
Individuals who file claims must call the 1-800-440-0858 claims toll free telephone number. After speaking to the company, individuals will receive a claim number and can begin speaking to local representatives to have the claim reviewed and processed.

The claims staff had already spoken to one potential claims recipient about business interruption even though the office had been open less than 48 hours at the time.

Claims offices have been set up in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. To learn more about the cleanup efforts, visit the Deepwater Horizon Response web site at: www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com.
