BP provides 70 million dollars to advertise Gulf Coast beaches

BP Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward says the company will give $70 million to four Gulf Coast states to bring tourists to the area.

Florida will get $25 million dollars while Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana will get $15 million dollars each. The money is in addition $25 million dollars Florida has already received from BP.

The money will help the Gulf States fight unfounded fears that BP's Gulf of Mexico oil spill has affected the beaches and seafood.

Governor Charlie Crist said he is grateful for the money which will be used for a national tourism advertising campaign. Governor Crist added that “As one of the world’s favorite travel destinations, we will use every marketing resource available to spread the word that Florida’s beaches are clean, our fish are biting, and the Sunshine State is open for business.”
