The Chronicle keeps bid to print delinquent tax rolls

The Chronicle Newspaper will print this year’s delinquent tax rolls beginning this month.

The Franklin County commission voted unanimously Friday that the Chronicle meets the legal requirements to carry the ads, which will run for three weeks before delinquent tax bill are sold to the public.

The Chronicle actually won the bid in March, but the bid award was contested by the Apalachicola Times newspaper who said the Chronicle has not been in business long enough to print legal ads under Florida law. The issue was whether the currently published Chronicle newspaper is a continuation of the previous Franklin Chronicle newspaper or whether it just has a similar name.

After nearly 4 hours of discussion on Friday, the county commission voted unanimously that the Chronicle actually is the successor to the defunct Franklin Chronicle and can carry legal ads.
