May 28 Update - You can fish without a license in Franklin County and throughout Florida this weekend! The Governor's office announced today that residents and nonresidents in Florida can fish for saltwater species around the state without a license during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, May 29-31, and the weekend of June 5-6.

Franklin County beaches, fishing and seafood continues to be clean, plentiful and waiting for you to visit. No oil-related impacts have been verified or are projected throughout NOAA's 72-hour trajectory period.

Memorial Day Weekend activities in the county will include the kickoff to an outdoor Summer Concert Series on the Apalachicola Riverfront, Saturday, May 29. Other events this summer will include an Elvis Extravaganza at the Dixie Theatre and the annual Big Bend Saltwater Fishing Classic in Carrabelle.
