Franklin County EOC monitoring Gulf of Mexico oil spill

THE FRANKLIN COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER IS CURRENTLY OPERATING AT A LEVEL ONE ACTIVATION MONITORING THE DEEP HORIZON OIL SPILL. COUNTY OFFICIALS MET THIS MORNING TO REVIEW THE ALABAMA, MISSISSIPPI AND NORTHWEST FLORIDA AREA CONTINGENCY PLAN TO ORGANIZE A RESPONSE TO THIS ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD IF NECESSARY. COUNTY OFFICIALS ARE PARTICIPATING IN STATEWIDE CONFERENCE CALLS EACH DAY AND WILL RELEASE ANY NEW INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
