May 22 Update - The latest National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 72-hour forecast predicts relatively light predominantly SE winds to persist through Saturday night,becoming more easterly on Sunday and Monday. With persistent SE/E winds, forecasters predict stronger downcoast currents may move oil westward - even further away from the Franklin County shoreline.
Franklin County beaches are open and area fishing has not been affected.
Current federal fishing closures are well offshore and all State of Florida waters remain open to commercial and recreational fishing. Carrabelle will soon host the annual Big Bend Saltwater Fishing Classic scheduled for June 18-20. Other fishing tournaments and events can be found HERE.
