Its not Franklin County news but its very interesting...
The Florida Highway Patrol investigated a total of 8 crashes that occurred within a span of four miles
and 30 minutes this afternoon. The initial crash involved a single vehicle near the 192 mile post, on the
bridge over US 90 in Gadsden County. The driver had lost control during the rain storm and began to
rotate, striking the wall on the bridge. There were no injuries and no roadblock from the initial crash.
Traffic slowed as it passed the crash scene due to the rain and emergency personnel present. One
vehicle failed to adjust for the slower traffic ahead and struck a second vehicle in the rear. This collision
forced the second vehicle into a third, which was in turn forced into a fourth vehicle. This second event
caused the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 to become blocked near the 192 exit and caused traffic to
back up and come to a stop. During the sudden backup, a total of 6 more crashes occurred between the
192 and 196 mile marker in Gadsden and Leon Counties. All crashes involved a total 16 vehicles, 6 of
which required towing. 10 people were transported to Tallahassee Memorial and Capital Regional
Hospitals, all with non-life threatening injuries. The FHP was able to open one of the westbound lanes
almost immediately and all lanes were clear and open within 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Gadsden
County EMS, Leon County EMS, Midway Fire Department and Tallahassee Fire Department all
assisted at the scene.
