Sacred heart Hospital launches summer volunteer program for students

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf is launching a special summer volunteer program for students.

The summer volunteer program will provide 10 high school students with the opportunity to do volunteer work, gain work related-experience, and explore a variety of roles in the healthcare field. Students will be required to attend an orientation session and commit to volunteering eight hours per week.

The program will conclude with a half-day seminar for students to speak to a panel of healthcare professionals regarding careers, education requirements, and the overall patient care experience.

Students interested in applying for the program must be 14 years of age or older who have completed the eighth grade. The application includes a brief essay, parental consent, and two school references. Selected participants will also complete a health screening.

For more information about the summer volunteer program for area students you can contact Paulina Pendarvis, volunteer services coordinator at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf, at (850) 229-5627 or paulina.pendarvis@shhpens.org.
