The Franklin County Tourist Development Council was recently awarded a $5,000 Culture Heritage and Nature Tourism grant from VISIT FLORIDA, to create a photo bank of the cultural resources of the area, focusing on the region’s seafood heritage.
The grant is a collaborative effort with both the Gulf and Wakulla County Tourist
Development Councils.
The TDC grant is one of several grants awarded locally by Visit Florida.
Other recipients of grant funding through the Visit Florida program included Florida¹s Forgotten Coast Plein Air Invitational and the Big Bend Scenic Byway.
The purpose of the grants is to help non-profit entities and local governments stretch their tourism marketing dollars in an effort to expand tourism activities in Florida.
TDC board member Joe Taylor said the TDC is pleased to be selected and we look forward to building a photography collection that all three counties can use in their various marketing efforts.
According to Mister Taylor, representatives of the three TDCs will now sit down and plan the specific strategy for contracting photography services across the three county area highlighting the region’s seafood as well as each community¹s cultural, historic and natural amenities.
