Who gets Franklin County's ad valorem tax dollars?

If you’ve been wondering where your local property taxes are going, tax collector James Harris gave the County commission a full list on Tuesday.

The county this year collected 25,562,278 dollars a 32 cents.

Of that 11,556,740 dollars went to the local school district.

The county got 9,516,252 and 80 cents.

The City of Carrabelle got a little more than 1.1 million dollars, while the city of Apalachicola got a little over 1.2 million dollars.

The rest of the money went to groups like Dog Island, The Eastpoint Water and Sewer District and the Northwest Florida water management district.

Mister Harris said collection this year were actually quite good.

The county managed to raise over 112 thousand dollars during this year tax certificate sale which left only 2600 dollars in tax certificates in county possession.

Last year the county wound up with nearly 38 thousand in tax certificates on its hands.
