Apalachicola Riverkeeper seeks votes for Pepsi Grant

The Apalachicola Riverkeeper is in the running for Pepsi Refresh Project grant which could provide some money to help with a project to document the impact of the Gulf oil gusher on the Apalachicola Bay.
The group, however, needs more votes from the public to get the money.
Pepsi is giving away $1.3 million dollars to help communities along the Gulf of Mexico.
The Apalachicola Riverkeepers organization is seeking a $50,000 grant for their OSPREY Project to help document the impacts of the BP oil spill on the Apalachicola Bay.
The money will be used to train 50 volunteer citizen scientists to gather information about the environmentally sensitive sites in the Bay.
The volunteers will be trained to use NOAA's basic Natural Resource Damage Assessment protocols to video, GPS, and record pre- and post-impact data from Deepwater Horizon.
The grant would also help pay for other equipment, and to pay associated expenses like fuel for boats that volunteers would utilize to shoot pictures and video footage with the Flips.
The information would be collected, summarized and shared with other communities to help them with their response.
The public chooses which projects Pepsi funds by voting for their favorite projects at the Pepsi website.
The Riverkeeper project was last ranked 29th, so more votes would certainly help.
People can vote daily through August the 31st –you can vote for as many as 10 projects per day, but only once per day for a given project.
The link to vote for the Riverkeeper project can be found on the news page at oysterradio.com.
