Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the Cape St. George Lighthouse is an historic beacon and one of St. George Island's most popular attractions. You can learn more by visiting www.anaturalescape.com

August 3 Update: There's not too much more to report about surface oil in the Gulf. NOAA officials say that no recoverable oil has been reported from aerial recons since Saturday, July 31 and the threat of new shorelines impacts is low due to weak onshore winds and the reduced amount of floating oil. It's simply not an issue in Franklin County. Our beaches are clean; our seafood is delicious and safe. It's time to plan your fall vacation!

Keep tuned to the Apalachicola webcam this month! The Water Street Festival of Ice will feature several activities within sight of the webcam which shows the downtown view of the Apalachicola River and historic riverfront.
