Sheriff’s officials say the death of a 22 year old woman on St. George Island over the weekend was a suicide.
Deputies were called to the home at 740 West Gulf beach Drive just before 10 o’clock Friday night where they found the body of 22 year old April Bachtel of Athens, Georgia.
Miss Bachtel’s family had rented the home, she was staying in the home with a boyfriend.
Miss Bachtel had reportedly become upset earlier in the evening and while the boyfriend was walking on the beach she hanged herself.
The Sheriff’s department was called after the boyfriend ran to a neighboring home asking for help.
The Sheriff’s Department called in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Scene Investigators and the preliminary investigative and autopsy results indicate the cause of death was self inflicted by hanging.
Foul play is not suspected in the death.
Miss Bachtel’s body has been released to her family in Georgia.
