1000 area students to take part in "More kids in the woods" program

One thousand sixth graders from Leon and Wakulla will visit the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center beginning November the 5th to introduce children to the wonders of nature.
A number of groups including the
U.S. Forest Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation are funding the event though the Forest Service’s “More Kids in the Woods” grant program.
During the conservation field days, students will learn conservation as well as participate in hands-on activities like fishing and archery.
Students will also construct turkey or bird calls to take home, and observe a live controlled-burn demonstration.
