Oystermen busted for harvesting in closed waters

If you are going to harvest oysters in closed waters make sure to have a good excuse in case the cops show up.        

Fish and Wildlife officers last week busted three oystermen who were harvesting in a closed area of the Ochlocknee bay.

The oystermen had an excuse – they said they didn’t know the area was closed.

FWC officers didn’t quite believe the story – because the area they were working is permanently closed and has always been closed and the men that were harvesting the oysters have been oystering in the area for years. 

All three subjects were cited and their bags of oysters were dumped back in the water.
