Franklin County unemployment spikes in November


            Unemployment in Franklin County spiked to nearly ten percent last month.
Franklin County unemployment rose from 8 and a half percent in October to 9.7 percent last month.
484 people were looking for work in November, that’s 58 more than the month before.
Even with 9.7 percent unemployment, Franklin County is doing better than most counties in the state.
Florida’s unemployment rate last month was over 12 percent while 55 of Florida’s 67 counties have unemployment rates of 10 percent or and above.
In Hendry County the unemployment rate was nearly 18 percent.
And Franklin County was not the only county in the area to see a jump in unemployment.
In Gulf County unemployment hit 11.1 percent last month with 723 people looking for work – in Liberty County the unemployment rate jumped from 7 to 8.1 percent with 319 people looking for work there.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate rose from 7.9 to 8.7 percent with over 1400 people looking for jobs in the county.
