It may soon be easier to let your kids go turkey hunting.
The FWC is considering a rule to establish youth turkey hunts on 78 state-managed areas including the Box-R Ranch and the Ochlocknee River, Tate’s Hell and Wakulla wildlife management areas.
The state would create a youth turkey quota permit which would be required on forty-nine of the 78 areas.
The youth turkey hunts would be two-day, Saturday-Sunday hunts, which would occur the weekend prior to the opening of spring turkey season.
If the rule receives final approval in February, these new hunts would take effect beginning with the 2012 season.
