State of emeregency extended through December 31st

A state of Emergency issued by Governor Charlie Crist last Friday because of freezing temperatures around the state has been extended for another 2 weeks.
The state of emergency eased highway restrictions for commercial trucks so that they could quickly harvest and transport crops that are vulnerable to freezing weather.
The extension will continue the temporary suspension of weight restriction for trucks until December 31st.
The Emergency Order was originally requested just prior to the freeze so farmers could harvest as much of their crops as possible and get them out of harm's way.
Now, however, the agriculture industry is in salvage mode and needs to continue harvesting and transporting crops to processing and retail facilities before they rot. The two-week extension should give the agriculture industry time to harvest their crops without overloading processing facilities.
