Volunteers needed for Christmas bird count

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Audubon Society are looking for volunteers to take part in a Christmas Bird Count in Franklin County on December the 27th and in Gulf County on December 28th.
The Christmas bird count has been going in the US on for 111 years, though this will be the 17th year its been held in our area.
Taking part in the count gives you a chance to spend a day outside monitoring the country's feathered population.
The data you collect will help provide information on the numbers and types of birds in our area and will help with national and international studies on trends in bird populations.
You don’t need any birding experience in order to help.
The bird count takes place across the county include St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, Little St. George Island, and the Apalachicola Bay.
To register for the count, contact Alan Knothe at the Florida Wildlife Commission at 850-265-3676 or by email alan.knothe@myfwc.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
