2 cited after shooting decoy deer

Deer hunters should probably think twice about shooting deer they see from the road – because that deer might be working for the cops.

Last week wildlife officers issued a ticket to two men in Gulf County who decided to take a shot at a deer they saw by the road.

The deer was a decoy; officers caught the father and his 17 year old son.

The 17 year old was the actual shooter – the father just held the light.

Officers say the two men were prepared – they were driving mom’s brand new car and had the trunk lined with plastic to protect it.

Both men were cited for attempting to take deer at night with a gun and light and road hunting.

A Remington 710 rifle, along with the scope, and light were seized.
