7 architectural companies vie for Hospital job

7 companies have shown an interest in providing architectural services for a new hospital in Apalachicola.

Having an architect under contract is the first step the county has to take to get federal funding for the construction project.

They are currently seeking a 14 million dollar loan from the USDA to fund the construction – they have already learned that the county is eligible for the money.

The 7 companies vying for the work are from as far away as Nashville and Sarasota.

Their proposals have been given to the hospital advisory board for review with the hope that the advisory board will have a recommendation by the county’s next meeting.

The board began its search in December and said they would like to get the process done as quickly as possible to insure that they get the best interest rates and that the FDA’s limited funding isn’t snatched up by other projects.

The new hospital will be built in Apalachicola around the existing building, and once complete the old hospital will be used for office space.
