As promised--The 8th Annual Mardi Gras to benefit Franklin's Habitat for Humanity and Franklin's Promise will be held Saturday, February 5 at the Dixie Theater. Sponsors ($50) and reserved table supporters ($30) can contact Mardi Gras Co-Chairs Don and Pamela Ashley (850-697-8997) to reserve dinner seats for the event which begins at 6:30pm. General admission ($20) tickets can be purchased at the door for the musical show scheduled for 7:30pm featuring Big Daddy's and Tangled Roots Band, Slim Fatz, Korn Bred Band and John Ramsden.
A silent auction and crowning of the 2011 King Rex and Princess Pearl (Wayne and MaryAnn Thomas) with the traditional bead toss will round out the evenings entertainment. HFH is currently building its third home in Franklin County with plans for two more as soon as Eastpoint lots can be acquired. Franklin's Promise supports a variety of local charities including the Food Pantry which weekly provides staple foods for community residents in need.
Dress for the event is "Jazzy to Snazzy" according to Pamela Ashley. "Come out and Bon Tiemps Rouleze--Let the Good Times Roll, for very good causes.
"Mardi Gras has raised more than $100,000 for Forgotten Coast families since it was re-restablished n 2004", added Don Ashley.
"Habitat and Franklin's Promise are dedicated to help families in our community who need a helping had up."
