Controlled burn at Tyndall AFB this weekend

Tyndall controls burn scheduled
TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Weather permitting, controlled burns of approximately 1,400 acres are scheduled for 15 and 16 January 2011, on Tyndall Air Force Base property. All burns will be conducted between approximately 9 a.m to 6 p.m.
These controlled fires reduce the likelihood of wildfires, and help promote regeneration of low-lying plants and brush that require regularly-scheduled burns in order to grow.  Endemic wildlife also benefits from the reduction of overgrowth.
