Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating an arson case involving a vehicle reported which was reported Jan. 16, according to Sheriff David Harvey.
Investigators received a call from witnesses who reported a burning vehicle on Lawhon Mill Road in the Apalachicola National Forest. Deputy Sean Wheeler arrived on scene and observed Wakulla Firefighters attempting to extinguish the fully engulfed vehicle.
The witnesses were walking in the woods when they observed the fire and a man pouring what appeared to be gasoline from a container on the burning truck.
The state Fire Marshal and Detective Rob Giddens investigated and determined the vehicle’s ownership. An interview with the vehicle owner was conducted and other evidence was collected at the burning vehicle scene.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division and the investigations continue.
