GULF COAST SALUTE AIRSHOW 2011 DATES ANNOUNCED


TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Tyndall Air Force Base officials will host the Gulf Coast Salute 2011 Air Show and Open House, March 26 and 27.

This year’s event will be highlighted by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, in their 57th season representing the pride, precision and professionalism of the men and women of the United States Air Force. Since their creation in 1953, the Thunderbirds have ignited passion in Americans through their grace and jaw dropping aerial maneuvers, exhibiting the skill and capability of the world’s most advanced and respected air, Space and Cyberspace force.

     The two-day event will also feature a wide variety of military and civilian aerial performances. A dazzling array of civilian flying performers, including Tora,Tora,Tora and Greg Poe, will do their aerial magic.  And military aviation heritage will be showcased with air and ground displays of “warbird” aircraft dating back to World War II.

      Numerous ground displays and attractions will also be available.  There will be plenty of food, games and attractions to make this year’s event a memorable one.

      Major Kevin Cruson, Gulf Coast 2011 Chairman, said he promises a fantastic show for all who attend. “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2011 Gulf Coast Salute.  This year’s show promises to be diverse show which should fascinate everyone from kid’s to the Grandparents.  We are looking forward to opening the gates at Tyndall AFB and showing off our mission and our team.”

      Admission and parking are free.  Shuttle bus transportation will be provided from the parking area to the flight line. Security will be emphasized: no coolers (unless needed for medical reason), no pets, weapons, glass bottles or containers will be allowed.  Backpacks will be permitted, but are subject to search.
