Local beach information available over the internet from Mote Marine Lab

Red Tide information for Franklin and Gulf Counties available on the internet or right over your e-mail.

The two counties are part of “The Beach Conditions Report”, which was created by Mote Marine Laboratory in 2006 to provide up-to-date information about red tides on beaches.

The program covers 31 beaches along the Florida Gulf coast including the St. George Island State park in Franklin County and the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Gulf County.

The Beach Conditions Report includes information ranging from the presence or absence of dead fish and whether beachgoers are reporting respiratory irritation to water color, wind direction and what flags are flying at the beaches.

The reports are provided by specially trained observers including lifeguards and park rangers.

The report is updated daily at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and you can either check it out on the internet at www.mote.org/beaches - or you can have it e-mailed to you twice a day.
